It’s time to remind you to get your bid in on one or both of the two lovely abstract paintings I have consigned with Levis Fine Art Auctions in Calgary. Their live auction will be taking place on Sunday May 1, 2011 and should be an interesting one. Make sure if you plan to place an absentee bid that you get that organized soon.
And take note that the second section of the catalogue is an online auction and that you will need two seperate paddle numbers in order to bid in both sections. If you wish only to place an absentee bid for the live auction, then you will need a three number paddle assigned and your credentials have to be pre-approved – check that out right away so you are prepared.
To register and to view the complete catalogue including my two Alex Janvier which are lots 315 and 316 go to: http://www.levisauctions.com/
Alwx Janvier is one of the grand old men of Canadian Painting as a founding member of the First Nations “Group of Seven”, but his scope and influence go beyond Native Art. Although growing out of the native experience and tradition, Alex Janvier (b.1935) has continued to evolve and experiment and continually comes up with new approaches and interpretations of his artistic experience.
Above are a group of links which go to the wikipedia entry on Janvier’s life and accomplishments; his own official website for his Gallery in Cold Lake, Alberta; and a groundbreaking Dutch Gallery specializing in Native Art from Canada. Despite being at an age when most of us are starting to slow our pace a little, Janvier keeps coming up with exciting and innovative new work and these links will help you to see the scope of his body of work.
Enjoy the new information, think about investing in this great Canadian artist, and have a great long weekend!
Until next time – Mich.
